Interference In Stretch Costs Dixie's Hope a Win

On a rain logged Thanksgiving Day at Churchill Downs, Dixie's Hope appeared ready to pick up her second career win in a $61,000 allowance race.  Stalking Garret Gomez and Dad's Crazy throughout the first 7 furlongs of the 1 mile event, Dixie's Hope began to make her move when the leader drifted over and caused her to check.  The loss of momentum allowed Rigamaro to pass Dixie on the outside.  Instead of packing it in, Dixie's Hope fought back to finish within a neck of Dad's Crazy and a nose of Rigamaro.  After a lengthy inquiry by the stewards, Dad's Crazy was taken down and placed third.  Rigamaro was moved up for the win, and Dixie's Hope was placed second.

Jockey Michael Baze said after the race that he had plenty of horse left and felt for sure she was going to win the race.  Going off at 13-1 on her first trip over a conventional dirt surface, Dixie's Hope paid $10.40 and $6.80.  The final time for the 1-mile event on the sloppy track was 1:39.63
