Making her first start going two turns as well as on a synthetic surface, Pure Victory ran second in a maiden special weight event at Presque Isle Downs on Tuesday evening. Bumped at the start, Pure Victory got to the rail and made an easy lead. She set the pace through the first three-quarters of a mile but gave way to eventual winner, Hob Nobin, at the top of the stretch. Pure Victory finished four lengths ahead of third place finisher Cozy Top.
Hob Nobin, a $105,000 yearling purchase, went off as the 6/5 favorite. She paid $4.80, $2.40, and $2.20. Pure Victory paid $2.60 and $2.20. Cozy top paid $2.40 to show. The exact paid $13.00 and the trifecta paid $26.40.
