The third time was a charm for Pure Victory as she broke her maiden at Presque Isle Downs on Friday evening. Breaking from the 4-hole, she settled into fourth position going into the first turn. Tribal Music set the pace covering the first quarter in 23.92 and the first half in 47.99. Imperial Jive took over the lead at the three-quarter pole and led entering the stretch. However, Pure Victory was able to run her down and win by 4 1/4 lengths. Imperial Jive finished 10 lengths ahead of Tribal Music.
Off at 3/5 odds, Pure Victory paid $3.40, $2.60, and $2.60. The exacta paid $12.00 and the $1.00 trifecta paid $47.50. Mario Pino was in the irons.
