Pocket Aces racing is forming a brand new partnership with an eye toward purchasing a 2-year-old in-training at the Ocala Breeders' June sale. In the past Pocket Aces has focused on purchasing yearlings and developing them into racehorses, however, this year we feel that unique market forces have made the 2-year-old sales a more realistic market for Pocket Aces.

Although the expenses incurred getting a 2-year-old to the race track are less, because they are a year further along, the initial purchase price, compared to buying a yearling, has kept Pocket Aces away from the 2-year-old sales in the past. However, the 2-year-old in-training market has been hit particularly hard during the recent economic downturn with averages and medians at many sales declining by a third. It is our opinion that the "softest spot" in the thoroughbred industry is the 2-year-old market and it can afford us the greatest opportunity to find value in a ready made racehorse.

Shares for this partnership are $2500 which includes all regular, expected expenses through 2009. A minimum of 10 shares are available.

No Mark-Up - Pocket Aces Racing does not make money by marking up the cost of the thoroughbred to prospective partners. The partnerships pay the actual price the thoroughbred brings in the auction ring.

Limited Expenses - Because Pocket Aces Racing builds the initial budget to include all normal, expected expenses through the 2-year old year, additional expenses beyond the initial contribution are minimal. In addition, purse earnings are utilized to pay for future expenses. In three years since Pocket Aces Racing was established, no additional capital contributions to partnerships have been necessary. In fact, Pocket Aces Racing has only paid dividends to its members.

Maximizing Experience - The primary goal of Pocket Aces Racing is to maximize the experience of each and every partner. Partners are invited to participate in every step of the process. Charitable Contributions - One percent of all Pocket Aces Racing purse earnings will be donated to a Thoroughbred Charity.
