Conjuring Wins Debut

Conjuring was a wire to wire winner in the 5th race at Belterra Park earlier this afternoon.

She broke well from the gate and took over the lead within 100 yards or so despite being bumped around a bit. She expanded her lead easily and led by about 2 1/2 coming into the stretch. She actually stretched out her lead to about 5 lengths with about 1/16 to go when Geovany essentially geared her down. The place finisher, Saturday’s Catch, closed to within about three lengths at the wire. She set solid fractions of 0:22.89 and 0:46.35 and finished in 0:58.11.

Geovany said she had the race well under control from start to finish, as was apparent by watching it. He did say she got a bit out of sorts in the turn, which isn’t uncommon in a first race, but he let her run through it and she got herself straightened out in the stretch.
Conjuring paid $10.40, $5.40 and $3.40
