Nineteenth Street Wins in the Slop at Fair Grounds

Nineteenth Street was the winner of the 5th race at the Fair Grounds earlier this afternoon.

She broke well from the gate and tucked in on the rail just off the leaders.  She traveled comfortably in third all along the back stretch.  She briefly fell back into fourth position when odds on favorite Katalust made her move going around the turn.

Katalust held a one-length lead over Emily’s Entourage at the top of the stretch with Nineteenth Street in third.  Nineteenth Street began to drift into the middle of the lane in the stretch and it looked like Katalust might give her the slip.  Saez quickly righted the ship and Nineteenth Street dug in and ran Katalust down late and pulled away to get the win by a bit more than a length.

Saez said she was extremely patient and when he asked her to run at the top of the stretch she simply re-broke and she really showed that ultra-competitive streak she has.

All indications are that she has come out of the race in great shape so far.

Nineteenth Street improves her record to 4-2-0 with earnings of $121,146 from 10 starts.
