Pocket Aces Adds Stormy Atlantic Filly to Roster

Pocket Aces Racing, LLC is proud to announce that it has added a filly by the current leading turf sire in North America (and the 10th leading sire on the 2012 general sire list) Stormy Atlantic to its stable roster.  She hails from the immediate female family of champion older horse in the U.S. Left Bank.

To date Stormy Atlantic’s progeny have earned over $54,000,000 from 11 crops for an amazing average of almost $5,000,000 per year. His best runners include Grade 1 winner and millionaire Get Stormy, Grade 1 winner and $700,000+ earner Stormello, Grade 2 winner and $900,000+ earner Icy Atlantic and Grade 3 winning earner of $800,000+ Quite a Bride. In addition to these top class runners’ Stormy Atlantic has also sired the winners of 163 stake races along with the winners of 41 Graded Stakes races.  Stormy Atlantic has been consistently siring runners of the highest quality for the better part of a decade now and is in the prime of his stud career.

The filly is out of a 6-year-old Fusaichi Pegasus mare named Bankstriss.  While her race career was uneventful we are very optimistic about her potential as a successful producer.  When a mare is young, like Banktriss, and you don’t have a lot to go on when attempting to predict their ability to produce good runners you look to their mother and sister’s produce record.  Banktriss’ mother produced champion, millionaire and Grade 1 winner Left Bank along with 3 other stakes winners while her sisters have produced the likes of Grade 1 winner Lucifer’s Stone as well as stakes winners Brittsker, Fayregamo and Lilly Ladue.  We’re hoping the “apple hasn’t fallen very far from the tree” and Bankstriss follows right in the footsteps of her female relatives.

We would also like to point out that the Stormy Atlantic/Mr. Prospector cross that this filly is bred on has been highly successful over the years.  Grade 1 winner Stormello as well as Grade 2 winners California Nectar, Mister Storm, M        y Best Brother (winner of this year’s edition of the Del Mar Derby-G 2) and Reb are all Stormy Atlantic’s bred to Mr. Prospector line mares just like this filly.

In all the years we have been shopping for racing prospects at public auction she is one of the most attractive and raciest yearling fillies we have ever seen.  She has a great balance of size, scope and strength while her hip and shoulder angles are ideal.  On the move she is very agile and athletic with a huge over step behind.  We definitely consider ourselves lucky to have obtained such a physically attractive horse.
