Pocket Aces Racing LLC is excited to officially introduce the newest filly in our stable…a $200,000 yearling purchase by Tale of the Cat out of Smokey Diplomacy, by exceptional broodmare sire, Dynaformer.
Tale of the Cat is one of the top sires in North America. With more than 1400 winners, 105 stakes winners and 4 champions. His progeny have won more than 4,200 races including 150 stakes races and earned more than $131 million.
She is out of the stakes placed winner, Smokey Diplomacy, by Dynaformer. The filly is the half-sibling to 4 winners including multiple stakes winner, Clear the Runway and multiple stakes placed Sallisaw and two other winners.
In addition to impeccable breeding, she is an outstanding physical specimen. She has all the basics we’re looking for in a horse such as size, scope and strength. However, what we think makes her so special is her strength, balance and athleticism. She has definitely inherited her sire’s trademark strength in her hips, gaskins and forearms as well as the ideal shoulder angle he seems to pass along to his progeny. Along with those traits, she also seems to have picked up the extra leg, scope and girth that her broodmare sire, Dynaformer, brings to the table. She really has gotten the best physical traits from both Tale of the Cat and Dynaformer and we think that adds up to a filly that will surely have plenty of speed and has an excellent chance to carry that speed a route of ground. In fact, breeding Tale of the Cat to stamina influence mares has been highly successful over the years as sons and daughters of his such as Tale of Ekati (out of Sunday Silence mare), Be Gentle (out of Risen Star mare), Stopchargingmaria (out of Montbrook mare), Gio Ponti (out of Alydar mare) were all Grade 1 or 2 winning Tale of the Cat’s at two turns.
In addition to her physique and breeding, we also believe this filly isn’t just “pretty to look at” – she’s an athlete too. By the time we saw her, we had evaluated well over 1000 yearlings and two fillies stood out for their walks. The first was a Scat Daddy filly that sold for $1,000,000 in session 4 and this Tale of the Cat filly that we purchased. We thought she was so special in fact, and so comparable to the $1,000,000 Scat Daddy filly, that we were quite prepared to go “all in” for her and bid our entire budget of $350,000. We actually consider $200,000 a significant bargain for such a special prospect in today’s market.
A full share in the filly represents 9.9% ownership and costs $26,000. Half shares ($13,500), quarter shares ($6,750) and even eighth shares ($3,500) are available. The initial purchase covers all expenses through December 2017. Quarterly expenses (when necessary) will be billed at $1,300 per full share per quarter beginning January 1, 2018.
