Storm Temple Pilot ran a very game second in her debut at Fairgrounds earlier today. As expected, she rocketed out of the gate and was on top by 2 lengths almost immediately. Her inexperience was obvious through the turn as she had her head cocked sideways and according to Mena, she just didn’t really know what she was supposed to be doing. She swerved in and out coming down the stretch as well and was caught by the post-time favorite at the wire. Mena said she had some gas left and he doesn’t feel like she was caught due to getting tired. He feels like her lack of experience was what cost her the win more than anything else.
