Pocket Aces Racing LLC is very happy to introduce our sixth purchase of the Keeneland September Sale and second of the ninth session, a filly by Bolt d’Oro out of Whimsical Muse by Oxbow. We picked her up for $40,000. She will be raced in partnership with Jenrick Thoroughbreds LLC.
Bolt d’Oro is a solid sire, regularly making the Top-20 list in North America since entering stud in 2019. He gets a very impressive 73% starters from foals and 46% winners, both well above the average. From five crops of racing age he has produced one champion, 10 graded stakes winners and 22 stakes winners. Some of his winners include Major Dude, Tamara, Incredibolt and Destino d’Oro. He is also the sire of our own Jazzabelle and Venus d’Oro. Needless to say, we are big fans.
Whimsical Muse is a stakes winning daughter of Preakness Stakes-GI winner Oxbow. She won the Miss Liberty Stakes going a mile and sixteenth on the turf at Monmouth Park on her way to compiling a career record of 6-2-3 and earnings of $261,710 from 24 starts. She won from 5.5 furlongs to 8.5 furlongs. This filly is her second foal. The first is a colt by Violence who has not yet started. Whimsical Muse is out of the same female family as Dublin, Classy Mirage and Sonneteer.
The three basic components we look for in any horse we purchase are size, scope and strength and this filly checks all those boxes. We like to think of her as a “goldilocks” horse. She’s not too big or too small, just the right size. She isn’t too long over her back or too short, just the right amount of stretch. Lastly, she isn’t so heavily muscled that she’ll get weighed down by mass or so weak she won’t be competitive. She has great balance in all three facets. She is correct through her knees and ankles and all her limbs move in a straight line. 92% of all Pocket Aces Racing horses have made it to the races, a number that far exceeds the breed average, and we believe that is due in large part because we buy horses with the above physical characteristics. Based on her shoulder and hip angles we think this filly is going to be dirt, up to a mile, and maybe a little further. She is an excellent mover at the walk and we see that translating well to her racing career.
This filly is SOLD OUT!!!
