Pocket Aces Racing Launches Aces and Queens Racing LLC

As a member of the Pocket Aces Racing LLC family, you already know the thrill and excitement of thoroughbred racehorse ownership. Now, we are adding a new dynamic to the mix. We’re creating an all-women’s racing syndicate within Pocket Aces Racing LLC and we’re inviting a select group of current partners (and their female friends and family) to become founding members. The Aces & Queens syndicate will be led by Scarlet Shoemaker, the wife of Pocket Aces Racing founder, Jared Shoemaker.
The idea is simple: bring together women who want to experience thoroughbred ownership together and create a group with its own female-led team, identity, energy and community. We’ll work with female leaders in the industry from trainers to jockeys (as often as possible) and, of course, buying, training and racing female horses!

And that’s the spirit of this group:

Pocket Aces Racing has the cards.

The Queens are ready to play!

We’re looking for women who are ready to:

  • invest in thoroughbred racing together
  • build relationships with other badass women in the industry
  • celebrate the wins from the farm, the training center, the paddock and the winner’s circle
  • help shape a new women-led racing community from the ground up
Let’s see more women in ownership and more Queens in the winner’s circle!

We are extremely excited to introduce our very first purchase, a filly by Elite Power out of A Merry Prankster by Distorted Humor. She was purchased out of the eighth session of the 2026 Keeneland September Sale for $20,000.

Elite Power was a two-time champion sprinter by Curlin. He is a six-time graded/group stakes winner and earned $3,775,711. He is a two-time winner GI Breeder’s Cup Sprint and won the GII Vosburgh, GI Vanderbilt, GII True North and GIII Riyadh Dirt Sprint. He won at distances from six furlongs to 8 furlongs and posted a 9-1-1 record from thirteen starts. His first foals are yearlings.

A Merry Prankster was a two-time winner and is out of the esteemed Distorted Humor. Her 3YO by Munnings is a two-time winner of more than $40,000 and her 2YO by Epicenter debuted in August. Distorted Humor (Forty Niner) is a perennial top broodmare sire whose mares have produced 159 stakes winners.

She is a very nice physical we were only able to afford because she had a chip removed from a fetlock earlier this year. It was enough to keep the pinhookers away. However, it is not a problem for us as we can take our time with her and don’t have to have her ready to breeze a furlong in 10 seconds later this spring. It is just the sort of issue we like to see to provide us a value opportunity.

The filly has good size, exceptional scope and the type of strength you’d like to see in a filly bred to be 2-turns. She is correct through her knees and ankles and tracks well through all 4 limbs. This should help keep her stay sound and allow her to be an efficient mover. This filly is exceptionally well made for racing at a mile, and further, on the dirt. That is what her pedigree suggests she will be and it is always good to see the physical and the pedigree match up. Given the amount of ground she stands over (Scope) and the way her hind limbs really reach out in front of her at the walk, we think she will have a very long stride. In addition, we believe she has the type of muscle mass that will allow her to keep running past a mile. She does have a powerful hip and gaskin but she is light enough up front that she won’t have all that mass wearing her down in route races.
