Pocket Aces Racing Adds Colt by Tom’s d’Etat

Our second purchase out of the 2023 Keeneland September Sale was Hip 2490, a colt by Tom’s d’Etat out of Diamonds For Lil by Summer Squall on Tuesday for $45,000.

This colt is very athletic with good size, scope and strength. He’s correct through his knees and ankles. He has a lot of strength in his forearms and gaskins. He’s very well defined without being heavy or coarse. He’s got a strong walk and engages through his hocks and is very fluid up front He looks like a very typical 2-turn, dirt type physique.

Tom’s d’Etat is a son of sire of sires, Smart Strike. He was the winner of eleven races and $1,762,272 over a 20-race career. He won stakes races on the dirt at distances of 8, 8.5 and 9 furlongs, including the Clark (GI) at Churchill, the Fayette (GII) at Keeneland and the Stephen Foster (GII) at Churchill Downs. He recorded 10 triple digit Beyers. His female family included Candy Ride and Giant’s Causeway.  His first foals are yearlings.

Diamonds For Lil was a winner at two and is the producer of black type mares who are black type producers in their own right. She is the dam of 10 foals of racing age, five of which are winners. She is the full sister to stakes placed and stakes producing, Weepnomoremylady.

He is at Margaux Farm in Midway, KY. We expect him to be based in Kentucky when ready for the track.
