Pocket Aces Racing Adds Twirling Candy Colt

Pocket Aces Racing, LLC is proud to officially introduce another new addition to our stable. He is a yearling colt by the 2nd leading sophomore crop sire (behind only Uncle Mo) Twirling Candy and out of a Mizzen Mast mare, and 11 time winner, Bizzee Mizzee. After looking at hundreds of horses back at the barns and in the show ring, this colt first caught our eye with his impressive walk. As he made his turns around the back ring we saw that he had a huge stride behind and seemed to be very agile and athletic in his overall movement. When we pulled him out for a closer inspection we could see that he was very correct through his forelimbs and had the size, scope and strength we like to see in a horse. As we spent more time looking at the colt we came to realize that he was the best mover we had seen to that point in the sale and it was quite obvious he had a tremendous amount of quality about him. We are learning from our previous purchases over the years that an area we need to tighten up, as best we can, is identifying horses with good minds. We believe that one way to do this is to observe how these young horses handle themselves in the sales ring. Unless a horse has been through the ring as a weanling, which this colt had not, their 20-30 minute experience going through the sales ring will be unlike anything they have seen before and some of them “crack” under the pressure of seeing all the new and intimidating sights for the first time. While he was on his toes and energetic in the show ring this colt did not wash out, try to run off or become frightened in any way. In fact, he acted like an old pro and we hope that is a good indication that he will be able to handle the mental rigors of becoming a racehorse.

In addition to being an excellent physical specimen, with a good head on his shoulders, we also think this colt has the type of pedigree that makes him a serious racing prospect.  He is by the very promising young stallion, Twirling Candy out of Bizzee Mizzee, by Mizzen Mast.  Twirling Candy was the 2nd leading first crop sire last year and is the 2nd leading second crop this year, behind only Uncle Mo in each instance.  Twirling Candy had 18 first crop winners last year including 6 stakes horses.  He already has 6 stakes winners this year including GII winner, Danzing Candy, Iron Rob, and Uptown Twirl.  Twirling Candy was a versatile runner, winning graded stakes on dirt and turf with record of 7 wins in 11 starts and earnings of nearly $1 million.  Bizzee Mizzee won 11 races in 37 starts with earnings of $298,626.  She won sprinting, on dirt, synthetic and turf.  She won races at 7 different tracks in the mud, on soft turf, on a fast dirt track as well as firm turf.  She was the epitome of versatility.   She was also very clearly a sound filly as she only had 1 real break over the course of a nearly 4-year race career.   We are very optimistic this colt will show the same versatility as both his sire and his dam.

A full share (9.9% ownership) is $9,750.  Half shares ($4,875) and quarter shares ($2,500) are also available.  The initial purchase covers all expenses through December, 2016.  Quarterly expenses (if necessary) will be billed at $1,200 per quarter beginning January 1, 2017.

Less than 2 shares are still available in this colt.  If you are interested in joining this partnership and having a colt that is as impressive on paper as he is physically, please contact us as soon as possible by replying to this email or by calling Marc at 859-312-6272 or Jared at 606-922-9325.
