Pocket Aces Racing LLC is very excited to announce yet another new addition to the stable, a yearling colt by Klimt out of Buona Sera, by Not For Love. He was purchased at the Keeneland September Sale on Monday for $25,000.
The colt is by first crop sire, Klimt. Klimt was a two-time Graded Stakes winner at two. Klimt’s sire, Quality Road, is a perennial leading sire in North America and stands for $200,000. The colt is third foal out of a winning producer by Not For Love, Buona Sera. Despite a relatively small number of dams, Not For Love remains a top producing broodmare sire, with the current top runner being graded stakes winner, Max Player.
“The colt is an exceptionally good physical,” said Pocket Aces Racing bloodstock and racing manager Marc Wampler. “He’s an “A” rating, which I have rarely given in over 20 years. We bid on a colt a few hips before him that went for $220,000. I like our colt as much or more than that one. He’s got good size now and is likely to grow more since he is a mid-April foal. He has a lot of leg underneath him and stands over a lot of ground for such a strong individual. There’s no weakness in him at all. Horses with that kind of strength tend to be shorter legged built to sprint. I think he’s a lot like his sire Klimt and grandsire, Quality Road. They’re not only strong but tall with a lot of scope. He’s a fantastic mover and tracks very well front and back while his hocks engage and drive powerfully. He’s correct and has excellent reach with his hind limbs. I truly couldn’t be any happier with him.”
